“Art is in my genes!” My family in Finland consists of well-known artists in both visual and theatre arts.

My artistic career began in native Finland by painting on fine china. After immigrating to Canada and early retirement, I developed a keen interest in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting. Experimenting with other mediums such as acrylic ink on Yupo and the use of Rice paper also offered me new challenges and surprises. Landscapes and waterscapes in the Algoma region, figures, pets and flowers draw my interest. Portraits are my specialty. As an award winning artist many of my works are in private collections in Europe and Brazil. Due to family concerns I took a several year hiatus from art but am now returning to it with a renewed vitality.

As a volunteer I convened three Finn Fest Art Shows including the International Finn Grand Fest Art Show held in Sault Ste. Marie in July 2010. I am a long standing member of the Algoma Art Society and Sault Ste. Marie and District Arts Council.
