Algoma Art Society Meeting held on Wed. January 8th, 2025

AAS President Cherie Ahvenniemi held a member appreciation night. Judy Henderson felt highly honored to be selected and was presented with a framed montage and a booklet containing a duplicate copy of the montage which all members present signed.  Judy was also honored to have her photo of her taken with members.

  

Oil Monoprint Workshop held on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum

Eleven Algoma Art Society members enjoyed participating in an Oil Monoprint Workshop with instructor Karen Nisbet.

ARCH Cheque

Algoma Art Society member Valerie Hurdle and lady from ARCH proudly display cheque of $780.00 donated to ARCH from the proceeds of the sale of 6x6 paintings at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.  Members of Algoma Art Society were the artists who provided the 6x6 paintings.

Algoma Art Society Meeting held on Wed. March 12th, 2025

Several members of the Algoma Art Society participated in a Group Paint. They painted or drew their interpretation of the same photo of the Bruce Mines Lighthouse.  After members voted for their favorite art piece, two members tied. They were Ken Hagerman and Susan Balog who each received a $25.00 gift card to Stones.

Ken Hagerman then did a very positive critique of the members' paintings of the Bruce Mines Lighthouse.

Algoma Art Society Meeting held on Wed. April 9th, 2025

Algoma Art Society members welcomed Sault Ste. Marie's Crayon Lady who distributes crayons to children who are new arrivals in the city as well as to children in schools and other organizations.  The Algoma Art Society presented her with a cheque for $150.00 for the purchase of more crayons as part of our art club's community outreach.

 

Algoma Art Society members brought no longer wanted art supplies which Rudy did a fantastic job at auctioning all the items to members.  Proceeds of the auction went to the Art Society.

Art & Craft Show & Sale at the Senior Centre

Algoma Art Society Meeting held on Wed. May 14th, 2025

What’s on Your Easel?  Many members brought in their work - some completed, some in process.  Ken Hagerman graciously critiqued the pieces and members shared their observations.  It was concluded that we have many talented artists in our Society and members would like this activity repeated.

 

Algoma Art Society Art Show & Sale held in the Sault Ste. Marie Museum on Friday, May 30th and Saturday, May 31st.

Fifteen Algoma Art Society members participated.  It was well attended by the public.

Figure Drawing Session held in Sault Ste. Marie Museum on Monday, June 9th

Five artists participated in a figure drawing session hosted by Algoma Art Society members Victoria Quon and Judy Henderson.  Raquel was the draped model.

St. Marys River Remedial Action Plan Art Exhibition held on Sat. June 14, 2025 in Desbarats

Four Algoma Art Society members were invited to participate, Victoria Quon, Vicky Taylor, Anna Lafave and Judy Henderson.  Members were invited to display up to three paintings each with the St. Mary's River and water scenes being the theme.
